Question: What days are practices?
Answer: Tuesday and Thursdays, normally from 9 to 11pm Question: How many girls normally tryout? Answer: It varies by year, normally around 60 to 100 girls Question: How many days a week do you normally practice and have games? Answer: We normally practice 2 days a week, and will play a game or 2 per weekend during the season. Our games are normally on Sundays to avoid conflict with football! There will be a few weekends without games, and we also attend one tournament per semester. Question: How often does the team travel for games? Answer: We usually travel a total of 2-3 times per semester. This past 2023 semester we traveled to Alabama and Emory for league games, and then once for a tournament! Question: How many new players make the team each year? Answer: This depends on the amount of returning players! We try to roster around 23 girls, and this past year we had 16 returning players. Question: Is it possible to balance club soccer and a sorority? Answer: It is definitely possible to balance both! There are a bunch of girls that are involved in Greek life! It is very manageable however, there are times where you have to pick one or the other because games/practices and sorority events can overlap. Question: For Sunday games, what time are they usually held? Answer: It depends if we are traveling, but we try to keep home games in the 10-2pm range if field space allows. Question: Are games year around? Answer: We have both fall and spring seasons, with the fall season games starting the wknd after Labor Day through early November. In the spring, we play mid Feb thru mid April with the exception of spring break weekends. Practices run about the same, maybe starting a week or two before games begin! Question: Are there separate tryouts for fall and spring? Answer: Typically, we just do fall tryouts because there is not much change in team membership between fall and spring. If, due to injuries or graduations or other changes in player numbers, we do hold spring tryouts, that will be announced towards the end of fall semester, but it is not certain. Question: What does a normal practice look like? Answer: We have a coach (Dante, who coaches at a local soccer club) who helps us run practice. Typically we'll train for 1.5-2 hours, beginning with small sided or technical drills, working up towards larger sided drills/scrimmage. Usually with a focus on attack or defense at a practice, or focusing on some tactical aspect of the game. End with some finishing practice or another fun game. |
